| Traditional Bed & Breakfast in an historic house in Hawkshead in the Lake District Eileen & Peter Johnston welcome you to The Old School House. The Old School House was built between 1705 and 1717 and was occupied by successive Headmasters until the Hawkshead Grammar School closed in 1910. The house sits in its own grounds, next to the old school, William Wordsworth being the most famous former pupil. There are extensive views from the house across the lovely Esthwaite Vale and to the nearby village church. The house is in a quiet corner of the village even though it is only 200 metres from the centre. It is warm and comfortable, has elegant interiors decorated to a high standard and many items of period furniture.
